SO, we check out Chris Harris’s Madonna Madness party at Level2 Sunday night. Nobody was there, so we know this will be new to you.

We know you really wanted to go, but it was just too wet and windy out– and nobody likes to get so soaked that the hair gel melts and runs down their face (at least, not before they get to the bar, anyway). Whatever, you pussies, we went and we danced and did our thing without you. Hurricane force winds? Horizontal rain? Blasphemer!

Now, we always love a Madonna party during which Dena typically does a great job, but this year we were left a little cold by her set(it wasn’t just the rain). This is the night we’re supposed to hear fabulous new remixes of random old Madonna classics that we NEVER thought we’d hear on the dance floor again (they’re out there). Our favorite was hearing some years ago this trancy remix of Deeper and Deeper sounding amazing coming out of Diesel’s sound system. But Like A Virgin? Lucky Star? Unmixed?! If we wanted to hear those high school dance classics we could have turned on Coast 93.3 and had our own Madonna Madness in the damn car.

However, Dena managed to revive her set (at the end of the fucking night)by dusting off the album version of Justify My Love, and playing the accompanying, MTV-banned video, which made us shut our traps for a few minutes.

Meanwhile in the hip-hop room, Chris Meadows played a live cd recording of the night before left behind in the dj booth by DJ CR.

beautiful liar
We heard this one for the first time last week at the bar after Strip Poker, and we didn’t even recognize the song because we never really liked the original track to begin with.

However, Just Add Freemasons, and instead of hate, we celebrate!

So Thursday night we take a break from the usual bar (back to $25 for this week, btw), and go to Alley Cat. We usually like Alley because the vibe is always a bit slower and a lot more clicky. Nobody seems to go there alone.

Everytime we go, it’s like there’s some former employee’s sister’s baby shower going on disguised as a normal night, and we spend most of our time trying to find a seam in the well-aquainted group through which to grab a drink. And the lack of dance music and people told us it was a lesbian night. Plus there were lesbians.

Dark Lady was the same, I guess. We do enjoy drinking with more people though. AV8 gave us the same old songs. Although we did particularly enjoy the Amy Winehouse Rehab at the very end. Classy.

Weekend in review

Well this was our first weekend back in town since our…um…experiences in Miami, and clearly nothing has changed.

However, on Thursday some lucky asshole did win the $500 cash prize over at the bar. We hate that! New friends Jennifer and Corey a.k.a. Pleasure Center performed on the downstairs box as part of Mirabar’s live performance series. They were totally cool people and performed their 2006 dance hit Getcha Some, plus we got to hear their new single for 2007, You’ve Got It All Wrong. Props to Jennifer for going through the whole show twice (once for soundcheck), bitch is a real performer!

Energy sucked. Why was there hip-hop the entire second half of the night? Why are they messing with a good thing?

Friday and Saturday, Mirabar was largely dead, and Dark Lady was busy.

Thoughts? Explanations?

Sunday, Sundays@Level2 continues to grow steadily, but we still think closing one of those rooms will benefit everyone. Aside from Level 2, Chris Harris-wise, the advertising for the Madonna party has started up (although he seems to have trouble paying his web server bills), which we could not be more excited about (we don’t care where it is). Plus we know Dena loves her some Madonna. Up next Friday is Harris’s Military Ball kick-off at Score (remember Andrea Carnell’s nip-slip?), we think we’ll wait until it gets to Providence to attend (maybe).

Miami, PART III

So anyway, we’re running up Washington St to get our car on 16th st. With nothing to do at 5am except go home (which we weren’t about to do), we drove zig-zagged over to Ocean Drive to get another drink out of our backseat cooler and chill on the beach for a while.
All we had at this point was a half bottle of Hpnotiq and a half bottle of Bacardi, but no matter.

Now remember we mentioned the sun doesn’t come up for another hour? Well we had completely forgotten about that by now, and expected the sun to make an appearance VERY shortly. Well, instead of the sun we got something very different; now this isn’t really that big of a surprise now, but at the time it was a little shocking. As it turns out, the beach along Ocean Drive turns into the biggest gay cruising spot we’ve EVER SEEN!

Or, not seen, as the case may be. What we did see however were ominous dark figures roaming the beach ALL AROUND US!(the horror…) So, we crawled up on top of one of those 7ft high beach chair stacks with our drinks and hoped our white plastic tower would safeguard us from otherwise certain molestation. It did, but our drinks ran out by 6, and we were not all that tired so we drove home.

As you can imaging, we were tired, hungover and wanted nothing but our warm beds, so we were rushing to get back home. We’ve been so wrapped up in our partying world by this time that we forgot that everyday life was resuming again this Monday morning, and we didn’t realize we were going so fast when we got stopped going 50mph in a 15 in a school zone (oops!, good thing the cop didn’t see the empty liquor bottles strewn about the back seat). For real though we were going with the flow of traffic! Anyway, 15 minutes and 1 mandatory court appearance order later, we managed to make it back in one peice.

All in all our time in South Florida was everything we’d hoped it be (and some thing we hoped it wouldn’t be). But now we’re now back to the real world (sort of) of Providence, with some higher expectations of this place. So get cracking! (and no more school zones! screw the kids!)
